This book details how to transition to the lifestyle and all of it's benefits. The book does focus heavily on the projected weight-loss aspect, so it comes off as more of a diet book than a lifestyle book. As someone who has already made the choice to be vegan, for a multitude of reasons, having the author try to convince me it is a great diet seems redundant. It think the intention is more for people who are considering the change and need a push to convince them it is the right way to go and possible weight-loss is a very convincing factor. The book can be a bit tough to read at times, as the author is very detailed about the benefits and science behind it all. This can be a bit daunting for some. Really, all I wanted to get out of it was some recipes and some tips on how to make living a plant-based life easier. The best part is that the recipes are fairly easy and don't use a ton of ingredients. Some vegan recipes can get super complicated or have hard to find ingredients.

I don't think I could ever give up meat entirely, but I'm trying to decrease it significantly and this book has helped. First, it's not preachy, thank goodness.
Micaela Cook Karlsen writes clearly and provides research to back up what she says for the health reasons for a plant eating. I've tried some of the recipes like the mushroom gravy yum!

I feel it's written in an engaging, fact based manner and I like having personal experiences of others peppered in the text here and there. I've got a list of great looking websites to look at as well. It was supportive of transitioning at your own pace to a new way of eating and looking at food, rather than going all or nothing If more of the recipes had grabbed my attention, I'd have no problems giving this one five stars.

Some of the recipes are pretty simple, which seems both like a blessing and a curse - they're easy to make, but maybe not super exciting Training your taste buds, mind, and body to enjoy simple foods might be one of the goals?

It gives a 3 option of immersion of the plant-based diet which is helpful and not intimidating.
I also appreciate all the recipes and resources give at the end of the book. I am really looking forward to adding all the dishes presented in the book in my everyday life. This book has been researched extensively, and, happily, all of the sources are included in over twenty pages of notes. I appreciate that, especially in a book on a topic that tends to be hotly argued using emotion rather than fact. This book was very enjoyable to read, and would be great for those seriously considering a plant based diet. Every aspect of changing is explained and the steps are mapped out carefully. There are several self-assessments to help you decide what transformation speed would be most effective, An intense amount of information is packed into this book: health benefits, meal planning, nutritional information, shopping tips, budget comparisons, and especially helpful how to translate recipes to qualify for your new diet, Then there are a lot of recipes, some as simple as the 5 ingredient 'emergency mini burritos' and some as fancy as 'Oyster Mushroom Ceviche and Bitter Orange-Lime Sauce.
Note: T. Colin Campbell, who wrote the amazing book "The China Study," has written the foreword. I highly recommend this book for those interested in plant based diets. Some people are not taught healthy habits when they are younger, so they grow up practicing what they know. This can be life-saving, no doubt, but it may not address the underlying issue.

In fact, I think holistic health care and coaching works great when practiced in tandem with conventional practices. A balance of conventional and holistic medicine offers different perspectives which offers more treatment choices and possibilities.
A good health care practitioner finds out what works, has good outcomes, and matches treatments to the goals of the individual. What do you mean by lifestyle? What you value most tend to become your priority when then guides your way of life. If you value adventure, for instance, you may buy a van, travel across the country, and find jobs as you travel. Every part of your life is tailored to that value of adventure. If your value is your health and wellness, then all of your choices revolve around this value.
